Not sure if this has anything to do with your pack but i get a crash on game save (using win10). I didnt vote for this because it started happening so late. This started happening only after 10+ hours of play time. For anyone with the same problem, i temporarily fix it (every play session) by:
1. loading an old save from which you can save
2. save
3. kill yourself with player.kill command
4. load most recent bugged game
5. kill yourself with player.kill command
6. load most recent bugged game again
7. SAVE

PostSubject: I crashed a lot with Win 10   Wed Jun 29, 2016 3:07 pm

I crashed pretty frequently with Windows 10. And when it crashed, it brought down the whole OS. Having upgraded back to win 7 ultimate, I have only had 1 crash, and that was before going through the performance guide.

My game crashes whenever I try to save.

I tried the player.kill method, but it doesnt work.

For some reason the save glitch stops happening when I play just vanilla skyrim...

Rotten, most of users have CTD. What do you think would be better - update 4.2 for more stability or work on 5.0 with more mods added?

As for me the only way to reduce CTD is to raise the grass size to 150. The more lags you have when approaching a town the more chance you will have CTD.

I think the CTD's happen only because of bad settings (skyrimprefs.ini, bashed patch not done, HD textures, etc.) or bad use (but not because of Rotten who delivers a perfect game adapted to his setup).

For example I only have CTD upon saving if I don't do the "player.kill" before playing. And I have it only because I activated/deactivated "Common Clothes" mid-game.

Otherwise it runs great. You just have to adapt it to your rig and be realistic about it. For example many settings like LOD of trees and grass are maxed out by default and have to be reduced or not (see this link http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:SkyrimPrefs_INI).

If you follow the guides, modify the load order and mods with care and don't make big changes mid-game, it is really perfectly modded !

Matfo, please speak for yourself, CTD can be occurred with good system settings. For example, I made a new bashed patch according to the instructions and had graphic bugs like no sky and eternal night.

the autosave function in the game crashes my game... in the mages guild questline there is a forced autosave that prevents me from doing the quest. the quest where you recover the stolen guild books, there is a forced autosave when you approach the final boss's door. ugg.

I find most of this to be true, setup correctly pack should not crash at all.I had the pack on windows 10 then on windows 7 an back on windows 10 again so no registries involved,at this point pack is very portable and as compatible as it can get.

Causes for some crashes might be :

1.Pack's path is not X:\Skyrim
2.Load order is incorrect
3.Patches wrongfully re-made
4.Some installation instructions were not followed correctly
5.Leavening task manager open (messes with MO's hook/virtualization)
6.Messing with the ini's to much without nothing what each setting does.
7.Messing with ENB's ini's to much without nothing what each setting does.
8.Playing the pack with forcebordeless window on set to true ini ENB ini (had 1 crash while playing like this)
9.Having sub par hardware and not the recommended settings (your game will crash without warning as they hit their limit or shutdown not to damage themselves from overheating)
10.Adding mods while not fully reading author's description and instructions or adding mods that conflict with the ones in the pack (textures are OK)

I believe people who say the pack crashes and those who say the pack doesn't, it all comes down to your hardware and and how much attention you put in reading the installation process.

The ini's that come with the pack (skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini) are not on ULTRA but i've tweaked them to be somewhere between High and Ultra setting with a numerous amount of tweaks. It's the same story with the ini's from the ENB but i've set those somewhere between Medium and High.

•Possible fix for CTD on save.
Since some people say their game crash on save i tried to reproduce it.
After many failures to crash the pack i sorted the load-order incorrectly both in left and right pane, this led to crashes on save.
So no.1 make sure your load order is correct as per http://www.modwat.ch/u/RottenDub
•Doing this i've noticed the CTD on save kept happening after the load order was corrected.
•Also noticed the game tries to create a temporary save-game adding a .tmp after the name when crashing.
•To resolve go to your game-saves path and delete all the files that contain the .tmp extension
C:\Users\YOURUSER\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves or X:\Skyrim\profiles\RottenDub\Saves
•Game should not crash now with a correct load order.

Suddenly I got the stable CTD in Bleak Barrow when saving, anyone encountered this? My load order is correct and tmp files were deleted but no effect.

Update: There is a solution, tested on saves several times.

1. Load an older save (as long as it doesn't have CTD on save glitch, then load it)
2. Create a NEW save (through pause menu)
3. Type in player.kill in the console menu, which can be brought up using `
4. Load your latest save (the one that had CTD glitch)
5. Type in player.kill
6. When it loads back up, Try saving (I usually just use quicksave)

''The Stable CTD''

LOL Rotten.. Good one

BTW I'll be in Europe coming the 8th of July and won't be back till like start of August..

That review will have to wait bro..

Perhaps and since I won't be here I will wait for 4.3 or whatever is next... I'm still deciding as well whether I should pick up a 1080 Nvidia back with me or not... Since I rather wait for the Titan version of it.

I got just a little bit of time to test the game.. and from what I seen... The work that went on it is monumental and the game is nothing less than a stunning work of art..

I still might not properly play and delve into the world for few months..

Rotten, Tarikko - what is so funny? If CTD occurs every time in a certain place it considers stable. I do not about Romanian language but in English it is correct.

Unfortunately there is another CTD - after sleeping in a bed. The console command player.kill does not help. :(

Crash fixes is showing what caused crash, in my case that was Farm Animals, furniture mods and it nif meshes, used nif healer, ctd no longer occurs.

gastovski, I installed Win 7 just for the pack. If 4.3 has the same save issue as 4.2 then the pack should be considered fail.

Rotten, nothing personal, you did a great job but it is unsat. Hopefully v5 or v6 would be a success.

Just curious, are you auto or quick saving? Is there any difference if you try manual saves.

Because more save-data needs to go into it.I will delay and test the 4.3 HDT add-on more before releasing it and see if these problems occur with 4.3

Tell me please, why when save file size reaches certain byte it automatically crashes?.

If you get in the habit of manual saves, Esc > E > Down > E it saves A LOT faster than quick save. For me it's about a 15 - 20 second difference.

With 4.2 version and Win 7 I got as twice as more FPS than in Win 8. With GTX 980M I had 25 FPS outside now 45-55, the grass size is 100. Still testing for CTD during save loading, waiting for 15 mb save to make it happen.
